Flexjet Private Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Bermuda After Cockpit Smoke Event
A Flexjet-operated private aircraft made a safe emergency landing at L.F. Wade International Airport in Bermuda after smoke entered the cockpit during a transatlantic flight from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Beja, Portugal. The aircraft landed at approximately 11:47 a.m. on September 25 with six people aboard, including four crew members.

Bermuda airport authorities activated emergency procedures ahead of the arrival, temporarily closing the Causeway and Kindley Field Road while fire and rescue teams positioned for the landing. The aircraft was inspected after touchdown and escorted to an apron, where the passengers subsequently deplaned. No injuries were reported, and arrangements were made for the passengers to continue their journey aboard another aircraft.

NVOII is tracking the occurrence as part of its business aviation operational-safety coverage because cockpit smoke is treated as a potentially serious in-flight emergency requiring rapid decision-making and diversion planning. The aircraft landed without further incident, while the available reporting did not establish the source of the smoke; any technical cause should therefore remain unconfirmed pending further assessment.
