Machjet International has expanded its Australian private charter fleet with a second Cessna Citation CJ4 at Sunshine Coast Airport in Queensland. The aircraft joins the operator’s existing CJ4, increasing its modern light-jet capacity and strengthening its ability to serve domestic missions across Australia’s geographically dispersed aviation market. The CJ4 combines light-jet operating economics with the speed, range and passenger capacity needed for longer regional missions. Adding a second example also gives Machjet greater fleet commonality and scheduling flexibility, reducing the operational impact when one aircraft is committed to another mission or unavailable for maintenance. Another fleet addition is expected as Machjet continues expanding. The growth is particularly noteworthy to NVOII because it points to increasing private aviation investment beyond Australia’s largest traditional business centers. Building additional charter capacity from the Sunshine Coast could strengthen Queensland’s position within the country’s private aviation network while giving customers greater access to modern light-jet transportation. Magellan Jets has appointed Nishaat Vasi as chief product officer, placing technology, artificial intelligence and business intelligence under a new executive leadership role as the private aviation company accelerates its digital strategy. Vasi joins the executive leadership team immediately and will oversee product innovation across Magellan’s private aviation offering. Vasi arrives from Zipcar, where he also served as chief product officer, and brings more than 18 years of technology leadership experience, including earlier roles at Flexcar, TripAdvisor and MathWorks. Magellan founder and CEO Joshua Marc Hebert said the company’s strategy is to use AI to streamline work behind the scenes while keeping human expertise central to the client relationship. For NVOII, the appointment stands out in today’s leadership sweep because AI responsibility is being positioned directly at executive level within a private aviation provider spanning jet cards, charter, fractional ownership, aircraft sales and management. It follows Magellan’s June expansion of senior leadership roles as the company pursues acquisitions and platform growth. Stay connected with NVOII for all things BizAv.

The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that a Learjet 60 crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, November 1. The aircraft was travelling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas, with nine people aboard. The FAA placed the accident at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time. A Flightradar24 playback screenshot supplied to NVOII identifies the aircraft as N722BD and displays a sharp altitude reduction near the end of the recorded flight. At the selected playback point, it shows a barometric altitude of 8,750 feet and a vertical speed of approximately minus 31,000 feet per minute. These are displayed tracking values, rather than independently validated accident findings, and do not establish what caused the descent. The FAA says the National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, supported by the agency. Its initial statement does not specify the condition of those aboard or any injuries on the ground. The circumstances behind the aircraft’s descent remain undetermined, and conclusions about mechanical failure, weather or crew actions would be premature. Aviation financial technology company Goodwin has acquired STACK.aero, a software platform serving private aviation charter brokers and operators. Announced October 29, the acquisition brings charter workflow technology and financial management capabilities closer together. The transaction creates opportunities to connect operational processes with financial activities such as customer billing, payments and transaction management. Charter businesses frequently use multiple systems to coordinate aircraft availability, customer requests, quoting and financial administration, making integration an increasingly important consideration. For NVOII, the acquisition reflects a broader movement toward consolidated technology platforms in business aviation. Reducing duplicated data entry and improving coordination between operations and finance could help charter companies operate more efficiently as customer expectations and transaction volumes increase. Jet Excellence will equip its entire Cessna Citation X fleet with Gogo Galileo HDX satellite connectivity, with installations beginning immediately through Araina Aviation. The program follows FAA supplemental type certification of the HDX installation for the high-speed business jet. Gogo says the charter operator is using a flexible financing structure to spread the cost of the fleetwide upgrade. The system connects through OneWeb’s low-Earth-orbit network and is intended to provide lower-latency, higher-speed service than legacy airborne connectivity options. NVOII views the selection as a significant retrofit commitment because Jet Excellence supplies aircraft capacity to fractional, membership and charter providers. The announcement confirms the fleet decision and start of installation work, although neither company disclosed the number of Citation X aircraft involved or a target date for completing the full rollout.
