Archer Aviation Clears U.S. Antitrust Waiting Period for Boeing Wisk Aero, Insitu and SkyGrid Acquisition
Archer Aviation has cleared an important regulatory step toward acquiring Boeing’s Wisk Aero, Insitu and SkyGrid businesses after the required Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust waiting period expired on September 18. Archer announced the development September 24, while cautioning that additional regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions remain outstanding.

The proposed transaction would combine Wisk’s autonomous eVTOL work, Insitu’s unmanned aircraft capabilities and SkyGrid’s airspace intelligence technology with Archer’s aircraft and AI programs. Archer and Boeing announced the transaction in August, with Boeing also set to become an Archer shareholder and strategic partner. Closing remains targeted for the end of 2026.

NVOII is tracking the deal because it could create an unusually broad aviation technology portfolio spanning eVTOL aircraft, autonomy, unmanned systems and airspace management. The expiration of the U.S. antitrust waiting period moves the transaction forward, but it should not be treated as a completed acquisition until the remaining conditions are satisfied.
