NTSB Highlights Recurrent Training Gaps Impacting Business Jet Crew Performance
The National Transportation Safety Board has identified gaps in recurrent training as a contributing factor in reduced performance during abnormal and high pressure situations in business aviation.

Recent findings indicate that while regulatory training requirements are being met, there is often insufficient emphasis on scenario based training that reflects real world operational challenges. This can lead to slower decision making and reduced effectiveness when crews encounter unexpected events.

Scenario based training is designed to replicate complex situations such as system failures, weather deviations and time critical decision making. Without regular exposure to these scenarios, pilot proficiency can degrade over time despite meeting standard recurrent training cycles.

Industry experts are calling for a shift toward more dynamic and realistic training programmes that go beyond compliance and focus on operational readiness. Strengthening recurrent training is seen as essential to maintaining high safety standards across business jet operations.
