U.S. Jet-A Prices Jump to $8.49 Per Gallon as Business Aviation Fuel Costs Rise Nearly $2 Year Over Year
The average retail price of Jet-A across surveyed U.S. FBOs has climbed to $8.49 per gallon in September, rising 18 cents from August and a striking $1.96 from the same period last year. The Aviation Research Group survey covered more than 200 FBOs and includes applicable taxes and fees.

The Southwest recorded the largest monthly increase at 28 cents per gallon. Western Pacific locations remain the most expensive region in the survey at an average $9.16, while the Central region is lowest at $7.57. NVOII is tracking the rise because fuel is one of the most immediate variable costs facing charter companies, fractional fleets, corporate flight departments and private aircraft owners.

A sustained increase of nearly $2 per gallon year over year can materially alter trip economics across high-utilization jet fleets, particularly when repositioning sectors cannot generate revenue. The latest survey describes current retail pricing rather than predicting where fuel costs will move next, leaving operators exposed to continued energy-market volatility.
