AMAC Aerospace Installs Starlink on Head-of-State Boeing BBJ 767 During Heavy Maintenance in Basel
AMAC Aerospace has completed a Starlink satellite connectivity installation on a head-of-state Boeing BBJ 767 during an extensive heavy-maintenance visit at its Basel, Switzerland facility, highlighting growing demand for high-speed internet aboard VIP widebody aircraft.

The BBJ 767 underwent multiple scheduled inspections while technicians also addressed fuel-imbalance issues and installed the Starlink satcom system.

AMAC says demand for Starlink installations remains strong and the company is an authorized installation MRO for the connectivity system.

The project formed part of a busy period of widebody VIP maintenance in Basel. AMAC has also recently handled an Airbus ACJ350, privately owned BBJ777 and BBJ747-400, demonstrating the specialist infrastructure required to maintain large VIP aircraft.

Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite architecture has rapidly expanded its presence across business aviation as aircraft owners seek lower-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity capable of supporting streaming, video conferencing and other data-intensive applications.

A head-of-state BBJ installation is particularly significant because government and VIP widebody aircraft have complex certification, security and mission requirements.

The project demonstrates how connectivity upgrades are increasingly being incorporated into scheduled heavy-maintenance events, allowing operators to modernize cabin technology while aircraft are already out of service.
