Gulfstream Aerospace has approved Klatt Works as a supplier of its Smoke Assured Vision Enhanced Display, expanding access to technology designed to help business jet pilots maintain visibility during severe cockpit smoke emergencies.

The SAVED system incorporates a head-up display into a pilot oxygen mask, allowing pilots to view critical flight information and enhanced-vision imagery even when dense smoke significantly reduces visibility inside the cockpit. The Gulfstream supplier approval was announced August 21.

Cockpit smoke represents a particularly challenging aviation emergency because crews may need to simultaneously manage aircraft control, emergency checklists, communications and a diversion while visibility deteriorates rapidly.

Klatt Works designed SAVED to provide pilots with essential visual information without requiring them to see through the smoke-filled cockpit environment in the conventional manner.

Adding Gulfstream as an approved supplier expands the technology’s potential reach within the large-cabin and ultra-long-range business jet market, where aircraft routinely operate long international missions far from immediate diversion airports.

The development also reflects continued investment in business aviation safety technology beyond traditional avionics upgrades.

For Gulfstream operators, additional emergency-vision options could provide another layer of cockpit resilience during one of aviation’s most demanding abnormal situations.
