Honda Aircraft Marks 20 Years as HondaJet Fleet Reaches 275 Aircraft Worldwide
Honda Aircraft Company is marking its 20th anniversary as the global HondaJet fleet reaches 275 aircraft, highlighting two decades of growth for one of business aviation’s most distinctive light-jet manufacturers.

Honda established the Greensboro, North Carolina-based aircraft company in 2006 after years of secret development work in Japan and the United States. The program ultimately produced the HondaJet, distinguished by its over-the-wing engine mounting configuration and focus on efficiency, cabin space and performance.

Honda Aircraft is now preparing for its next stage of expansion. The company is developing the larger HondaJet Echelon, which will move Honda into the light-jet segment above its existing HA-420 family and significantly expand the manufacturer’s addressable business aviation market.

The milestone comes as Honda continues investing in its Greensboro operation and worldwide customer-support network while competing with established light-jet manufacturers including Textron Aviation and Embraer Executive Jets.

Reaching 275 aircraft demonstrates how far HondaJet has progressed from an unconventional technology project into an established global business aircraft platform.

The Echelon program now represents the company’s biggest opportunity to translate that foundation into a broader family of Honda business jets.
