Gold Coast Helitours Plans SkyDrive SD-05 eVTOL Charter Operations in Australia
Australian rotorcraft operator Gold Coast Helitours plans to introduce SkyDrive’s SD-05 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft into its passenger operations, creating a potential pathway from conventional helicopter charter to advanced air mobility services.

The Queensland-based operator intends to use the three-seat SkyDrive SD-05 for sightseeing flights from a luxury resort on Australia’s Gold Coast. The aircraft would operate alongside the company’s existing helicopter activities rather than immediately replacing conventional rotorcraft.

The agreement represents another commercial application targeted for SkyDrive’s compact eVTOL platform as manufacturers work toward certification and operational approvals in multiple international markets.

For helicopter and business aviation operators, eVTOL aircraft could eventually provide new options for short-distance passenger transport, sightseeing and airport transfers, particularly in areas where noise and operating costs constrain conventional helicopter services.

Gold Coast Helitours’ involvement also demonstrates how established aviation operators may become early adopters of advanced air mobility by integrating new aircraft gradually into existing charter networks.

The project remains dependent on certification, regulatory approval and operational readiness before commercial passenger service can begin.
