Honeywell Aerospace has expanded its Guided Visual Approach capability to 120 procedures, giving equipped business aircraft pilots additional automated guidance when operating into airports where terrain, airspace or visual approach complexity can increase cockpit workload.

Honeywell’s FMS Guided Visual system uses RNAV-based guidance to create a stabilized, repeatable flight path during visual approaches and can support autopilot-coupled operations on appropriately equipped aircraft.

The technology is designed primarily for locations where conventional visual approaches can require significant pilot maneuvering or where terrain and surrounding airspace make stabilized approaches particularly valuable.

Unlike traditional published instrument procedures, guided visual approaches can provide pilots with a defined lateral and vertical path while maintaining the operational flexibility associated with visual conditions.

The expansion to 120 approaches illustrates the growing role of advanced avionics software in business aviation safety and flight-deck automation. Rather than relying exclusively on new hardware, manufacturers are increasingly adding capabilities through flight management systems and software-driven navigation tools.

For business jet operators flying frequently into challenging regional or mountain airports, expanded availability can improve approach consistency while reducing pilot workload.
