Business Aviation Aircraft Utilisation Climbs Above 2025 and Pre-Pandemic Levels
Business aviation activity continues to strengthen in 2026, with fresh utilisation data showing increased flying across corporate operators, fractional providers, charter companies and private owners.

According to Aviation Week’s Tracked Aircraft Utilization data, all four major operator categories recorded higher aircraft utilisation between May and July 2026 compared with the same period in both 2025 and pre-pandemic 2019.

The numbers are particularly significant because growth is not being driven by one corner of the market. Corporate flight departments are flying more, private owners remain active and charter continues to demonstrate resilience. Fractional aviation remains one of the standout performers, building on substantial growth since 2019. Earlier Aviation Week data covering March through May showed fractional flight hours 12% higher year over year and 181% above the comparable 2019 period.

For the wider BizAv industry, higher utilisation has a knock-on effect. More flying means aircraft accumulate hours and cycles faster, increasing demand for scheduled maintenance, engine and component support, pilots, cabin crew, recurrent training, fuel and FBO services. It can also accelerate aircraft replacement decisions as heavily utilised fleets reach maintenance milestones sooner.

The comparison with 2019 is perhaps the most important indicator. Business aviation experienced extraordinary demand following the pandemic, raising questions over how much of that growth would remain once commercial aviation recovered. The latest utilisation figures suggest a meaningful portion has stayed.

Business aviation is not simply maintaining its post-pandemic gains. Across several areas of the market, aircraft are now being flown more intensively than before the industry was reshaped in 2020, creating continued opportunities throughout the BizAv ecosystem.
