Jet-A Fuel Prices Surge to $8.31 as Business Aviation Operating Costs Rise
U.S. Jet-A prices climbed sharply in August, reaching an average of $8.31 per gallon, according to an Aviation Research Group survey of more than 200 FBOs. That represents an increase of 70 cents from July and $1.70 compared with August 2025, adding another layer of cost pressure for business aviation operators.

Regional differences remain significant. The Western region averaged $9.09 per gallon, while the Central region was lowest at $7.36. The Great Lakes recorded the largest monthly increase, rising 83 cents per gallon.

For business aviation, fuel is one of the largest variable operating expenses, so movements of this size can quickly affect charter pricing, owner budgets and trip economics. Operators may respond by reviewing fuel contracts, selecting lower-cost uplift points, tankering where operationally practical and paying closer attention to FBO pricing when planning trips.

The increase is particularly important for charter and fractional operators, where higher fuel costs can place pressure on margins unless those increases are passed on through hourly pricing or fuel surcharges.

For aircraft owners, the latest figures are another reminder that the cost of flying is being shaped not only by maintenance, crew and insurance, but increasingly by volatile energy markets.

As Jet-A prices move higher, fuel strategy is becoming an increasingly important part of business aviation operating efficiency.
