THC Orders 11 Additional Leonardo AW139 Helicopters
Saudi Arabia’s The Helicopter Company (THC) has placed a firm order for 11 additional Leonardo AW139 helicopters, further expanding one of the world’s largest fleets of the popular intermediate twin-engine helicopter. The agreement was announced at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, with deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2028.

The order forms part of a wider framework agreement signed between THC and Leonardo in 2024, which provides for the potential acquisition of up to 130 helicopters. The additional AW139s will support THC’s expanding operations across emergency medical services, offshore transportation, VIP missions and other commercial services.

THC has rapidly expanded since beginning operations in 2019 and has become a major player in Saudi Arabia’s developing aviation sector. The company reported a fleet of 62 aircraft in 2025, operating from more than 16 bases and recording over 40,000 flight hours.

For Leonardo, the latest commitment strengthens a long-standing relationship with THC and adds further momentum to the AW139 programme, which has accumulated nearly 1,600 orders from around 300 customers in more than 90 countries.

The expansion also supports Saudi Vision 2030, as the Kingdom continues investing heavily in aviation, tourism, emergency services and transportation infrastructure.
