Joby Expands Texas Operations Ahead of Air Taxi Launch
Joby Aviation is accelerating preparations for commercial air taxi services in Texas, with plans to connect Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and eventually Houston as part of the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). Working alongside the Texas Department of Transportation, the initiative aims to demonstrate how electric air taxis can provide fast, efficient regional transport while supporting the safe integration of advanced air mobility into the national airspace system.

Texas has emerged as one of Joby’s key launch markets thanks to its rapidly growing population, major business centres and strong demand for regional travel. Beyond passenger services, the programme will evaluate operational procedures, infrastructure requirements and airspace integration, generating valuable data for regulators as the company moves towards commercial certification.

The expansion also includes plans for next-generation mobility hubs, where electric air taxis will connect seamlessly with ground transportation. Developed in partnership with Atoms, these facilities are expected to combine passenger terminals, charging infrastructure and links to rideshare and autonomous transport, creating an integrated travel experience. Texas has been identified as one of the first states where these hubs will be developed.

As Joby continues advancing towards commercial operations, its investment in Texas highlights the state’s growing importance in the future of advanced air mobility. The programme represents another major step towards making electric air taxi services a practical reality for regional business and personal travel.
