Heart Aerospace Receives FAA Approval to Begin X1 Flight Testing
Heart Aerospace has received FAA approval to begin flight testing its full-scale X1 electric aircraft demonstrator, bringing the company closer to putting one of its most important development aircraft into the air.

The FAA issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category on 23 July, allowing flight testing of the X1 to begin immediately.

The X1 is a full-scale technology demonstrator supporting Heart Aerospace’s work towards its future ES-30 regional aircraft. Flight testing will allow engineers to gather real-world information on aircraft systems, handling characteristics and technologies that could eventually contribute to the development of lower-emission regional aviation.

Receiving FAA authorisation represents a significant transition from ground development to actual flight operations and provides Heart with valuable data for the next stages of the programme.

The milestone also demonstrates the broader progress taking place across electric and hybrid-electric aviation as manufacturers move beyond concepts and towards full-scale aircraft testing.
