Europe Launches Action Plan to Address GNSS Interference
European aviation authorities have introduced a coordinated action plan to address the growing threat of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference, following a sharp increase in reports of GPS jamming and spoofing affecting aircraft across the region.

The initiative brings together regulators, air navigation service providers, aircraft manufacturers and operators to strengthen resilience against navigation disruptions. Key measures include improved reporting procedures, enhanced monitoring of interference hotspots, greater information sharing and the development of operational guidance to help flight crews manage GNSS-related events safely.

For business aviation, the action plan is particularly significant as operators increasingly rely on satellite-based navigation for efficient routing, performance-based navigation (PBN) procedures and access to airports with limited ground-based navigation aids. Strengthening resilience against GNSS interference will help improve operational continuity while maintaining the highest standards of flight safety.

The move reflects Europe’s growing focus on protecting critical aviation infrastructure as satellite navigation becomes increasingly essential to modern flight operations.
