Hyundai and KAI Target 2034 Entry Into Service for Dual-Use eVTOL Aircraft
Hyundai Motor Group and Korea Aerospace Industries have announced a partnership to develop a dual-use electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, with a target entry into service by 2034.

The programme will focus on an aircraft capable of supporting both civil and defence missions, reflecting growing interest in versatile advanced air mobility platforms. By combining Hyundai’s expertise in electrification and advanced mobility with KAI’s aerospace engineering capabilities, the partners aim to develop an aircraft suited for passenger transport, logistics, emergency response and military applications.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate South Korea’s ambitions to become a global leader in advanced air mobility while supporting the development of next-generation aerospace technologies. The aircraft will also contribute to broader efforts to introduce lower-emission, highly efficient air transport solutions for both commercial and government operators.

The announcement highlights the increasing convergence of business aviation, advanced air mobility and defence technologies as manufacturers invest in aircraft capable of serving multiple operational roles.
