Iridium Completes Acquisition of Aireon

Iridium Communications has completed its acquisition of Aireon, bringing the global provider of space-based ADS-B surveillance fully under Iridium ownership.

The acquisition strengthens Iridium’s position in aviation technology by integrating Aireon’s real-time aircraft surveillance capabilities with its global satellite communications network. Aireon’s space-based ADS-B system enables air traffic controllers to track aircraft anywhere in the world, including over oceans, remote regions and areas beyond the reach of traditional ground-based radar.
