BETA Technologies has partnered with Surf Air Mobility to launch a six-to-eight-week electric aircraft demonstration programme in Hawaii, marking another step towards commercial Advanced Air Mobility operations.

The flight campaign will evaluate the operational requirements of electric aircraft in real-world conditions, including charging infrastructure, flight planning, aircraft performance and day-to-day operational procedures. The results will help both companies better understand how electric aircraft can be integrated into future regional air transport networks.

Hawaii provides an ideal environment for the programme due to its short inter-island routes, making it well suited to testing electric aviation technologies. The demonstration also supports broader efforts to reduce aviation emissions while exploring new forms of sustainable regional transportation.
