President Donald J. Trump International Airport Renaming Advances Amid FAA Coordination and Legal Challenges
Plans to rename Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport are moving forward following approval by the Palm Beach County Commission.

The rebranding was authorised through Florida legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis and is expected to take effect on July 1, 2026. A proposal has also been introduced to change the airport identifier from PBI to DJT, though this would require coordination across aviation systems and databases.

The Federal Aviation Administration has stated that while it does not approve airport name changes, it would be responsible for updating navigational charts and operational databases associated with the rebranding.

The proposal has generated debate within the aviation community, with concerns raised regarding implementation costs, operational transition and potential safety implications. Legal challenges have also emerged as opponents seek to halt the change.

The airport remains a major gateway for business aviation traffic in South Florida.
